National Trophy third round

Wotton-under-Edge men’s 1st XI v Tulse Hill and Dulwich Sunday, 12.30pm push back at Wotton Community Park

WOTTON-UNDER-EDGE men look to take another step towards the goal of playing at London’s Olympic Park when they tackle Tulse Hill and Dulwich in the third round of the National Trophy.

There is a place in the quarter-finals at stake and, with Wotton’s current incredible goalscoring form in the Conference North league, they will be looking to progress with a top display.

The Trophy is a high-profile, national knockout competition, open to those teams playing in the higher echelons of regional hockey in England.

The final in May will be played at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre at the Olympic Park.

Having defeated Plympton GS Old Boys in round two, captain Alistair Hammond and his boys in blue cannot wait to continue their Trophy campaign against the visitors from South London.

Tulse Hill and Dulwich Hockey Club play in Premier Division Two of the South Hockey League and come off the back of a 5-0 win over West Hampstead in the last round.

There are a number of destinations that Wotton could go to if they get into the quarter-finals, including the Channel Islands as Guernsey are at home on Sunday to Maidstone.

Most of the other third round ties are centred around the South East of England.
