ROVERS came back from 2-0 down to secure a valuable point at Northampton Town on Saturday.

We had a mountain to climb after a 23rd minute header gave the Cobblers the lead and they added to their tally just after the break.

It looked like their promotion party was in full swing at this stage and it would be a game to write off.

However the team has shown tremendous spirit and battling qualities all season and the encounter at Sixfields was no different as they mounted a stirring comeback.

Clarke’s substitutions did the trick as Montano replaced Lawrence and Harrison came on for Gaffney.

Lawrence has been showing improved form at home but he was ineffective in this game and the lively Montano made an instant impact by crossing for Taylor to notch his 26th goal of an incredible season.

His deft finish drew comparisons with Leicester’s Vardy and he is on course to achieve an astonishing 30 goals for the campaign.

That goal gave the Pirates hope that we could salvage a point but time was running out.

We were piling on the pressure and got our reward when Harrison converted a cross with a cool finish with just two minutes left to go.

The game ended 2-2 and it could prove to be a crucial point come the end of the season.

Northampton secured promotion as a result of the draw and we need to be inspired by the jubilant scenes and match their achievement.

We slipped out of the automatic promotion places to fourth as Accrington won, but luckily Plymouth lost and stay below us. Portsmouth look dangerous however as they are three points behind with a game in hand.

With five games to go there is all to play for and it is matter of which team now keeps their nerve and puts together a consistent winning run.

The Northampton away game looked our toughest one but we have to guard against any complacency and target two wins when we face Yeovil at home on Saturday followed by a trip to Stevenage on Tuesday.
