THREE ladies from Dursley Road Club – Kate Browning, Jan Short and Caroline Wyatt – took part in the Cotswold Veldrijden Spring Sportive on Sunday.
This Sportive was an early season challenge and the ladies decided to cycle the 100km route starting in West Swindon before heading out to the west of the county on clearly marked routes over some rolling countryside.
Unfortunatelym at around 30km, Jan crashed into Kate at quite a high speed!
Whilst both ladies were a bit shocked, they were fine.
They were in the process of calling the event organisers mechanical support number as Kate’s brake cable was caught in Jan’s brake levers, when a group of cyclists stopped and approached them to provide help.
One of the cyclists was a bike mechanic and managed to fix the bikes enough so that the ladies could continue.
Kate, Jan and Caroline finished the Sportive in good spirit, especially as there was cake and drinks provided at the finish!!
