CITY finally made sure of Championship survival on Saturday with a well-earned 2-2 draw at Blackburn Rovers.

Although we’ve looked as good as safe since the home win over Sheffield Wednesday a couple of weeks ago, that point at Ewood Park made it impossible for MK Dons to catch us.

The result of course confirmed the Dons relegation back to League One after they came up with City last season as runners-up.

After a lot of pre-season optimism amongst City fans following last year’s brilliant double-winning campaign, I think, in the end, there is relief all-round that we’ve managed to stay at this level following a disastrous summer in the transfer market.

Indeed, even going back three months to the end of January, our status in this division was looking very precarious but the board acted correctly in removing Steve Cotterill and Lee Johnson has undeniably done an excellent job in keeping us up.

He’s managed to get the best out of several players at the club including both of Saturday’s goalscorers Kodjia and Wilbraham.

I think he’s been able to do this by rotating the squad and using players more sparingly than Cotterill.

Kodjia and Wilbraham both struck in the second period on Saturday to give City the lead after going a goal down early in the first-half.

But, as happened at Brentford last weekend, City conceded late on as Danny Graham headed home on 80 minutes.

With four minutes to go, City’s Korey Smith uncharacteristically reacted to a challenge and got sent off for his troubles.

This Saturday City host Huddersfield Town in our last home game of the 2015/16 season (3pm).

The Terriers lie just a couple of points ahead of City in the table so it is a good opportunity to overtake them as the season draws to a close.

Finishing as high up the table as possible could be key to signing new players in the summer and I’m sure the current players will also want to finish the season on a high at Ashton Gate.
