THE SENIOR Section at Cotswold Edge Golf Club have been busy over the past couple of weeks both with competitions and friendly matches.

Seniors Captain Mike Ward took the honours in the Lawford Smith Plate stableford competition with an impressive 39 points and was rewarded with a 2 shot handicap cut!

Division 1: Roger Fay 37, Roger Moss 36 & Graham Bartlett 35; Division 2: Mike Ward 39, Gerry Robinson 38 & Keith Dancer 37. The sun shone on the re-arranged Seniors May Medal which was well supported – Division 1: Richard Rogers nett 74, Russell Betts 74 & Roger Fay 75; Division 2: John Bradley 71, Brian McTear 74 & Mike Harvey 74.

It was definitely a case of home advantage for the Senior friendly matches with visits to Cirencester, Lansdown and Painswick favouring our hosts whilst the visit to Chippenham resulted in a 3.5 – 3.5 draw.

Sandra Cutts & Catherine Beale shot an impressive under par nett 69 to win the June Turley Shield pairs stroke play competition followed by Tina Lewis & Lyn Smart 76 and Jane Rowell & Anne Crawley 77. Both Ladies Alliance teams won their respective matches 6 – 1, the first team away to Minchinhampton 2 and the second team at home to Lilley Brook.

The NGFL team were narrowly defeated on their visit to Naunton Downs 3.5 – 2.5 whilst the ‘B’ Team had better fortunes on the reverse fixture at home winning 4.5 – 1.5.
