THE RAIN from Friday evening ruined Cam’s clash with Redmarley in the Gloucestershire County League first division on Saturday as the wicket at Everlands failed to dry out in time.

And there was no joy for Cam’s thirds either in their clash with Stroud thirds in the Stroud and District League division one.

But Cam first team did manage some cricket on Sunday when they travelled to Hambrook for a Gloucestershire County Cup first round clash.

Once more, the rain prevented a result from this clash but not before Cam had a good go at the home side.

Hambrook batted first and were soon in trouble as George Dolling struck the top order hard. Opener James Wigzell was caught by Jake Dolbear off Dolling for four, skipper and fellow opener Alex Dyer succumbed to a Ryan Malpass catch off Dolling for 21 while the Cam bowler uprooted the stumps of number three Seb Hull and number four Calum Martin for single figures.

However, having had Hambrook in trouble at 52-4, the home side’s Tyler Johansson would not be moved and stuck around to the end of his side’s innings.

Number six Lee Dyer was also a big thorn in Cam’s side as he hit five sixes in his 42-ball knock off 72 before Cameron Moore took his stumps.

Richard Dyer joined Johansson and rapidly moved to 30 before he was caught by Peter Hall off Alex Ballard’s bowling.

But no matter what Cam threw at him, Johansson would not be moved and finished on 114 not out, with nine fours and five sixes in his total, as Hambrook reached 290-6 in thirty overs.

Dolling ended with figures of 4-33 from eight overs before Cam walked out to the crease for their turn to bat. They had been set a revised target of 228 for victory off thirty overs due to the rain.

Malpass and Dolbear got things going as they hit 17 and 12 respectively from the opening four overs but the rain won the day and the match was abandoned with Cam on 31-0 at the end.
