COTSWOLD EDGE Golf Club played host to PGA Professionals from the South West at their Club Pro Am event.

Representatives from the captain’s charity, Jessie May Trust, handed out mementoes to all competitors and chatted to them about the important work they do with terminally ill children and their families.

Alongside the Pro Am, other fundraising events are held throughout the year and funds are presented to the charity at the end of the season.

Sion Bebb from Morlais Castle returned a -4 score to win the Pro’s competition from James Ruth -2, Toby Hunt -1 & Jon Bevan -1.

Toby Hunt’s team (Adam Lee, Mike Britton & Des Lane) took the honours for the team prize with a very impressive -18 score followed by Team Raffle (Shaun Pearce, Ron Gibson & John Cumming) -11 & Stanley Boys -9 (Ross Casey, Pat Casey & Ian Preece).

The Seniors Open attracted a large field with over 160 competitors taking part in the pairs stableford competition with prizes for both visiting and home teams.

u THE LADIES Kit Kat stableford qualifier, where the top six go through to the final at Forest Hills in September, was won by Ilse Russell with 36 points.

The competition was held over two alternate days to allow working ladies to compete, Ilse Russell 36 points, Mel Lee 35 & Caroline Stokes 34.

The ladies Alliance teams have had mixed fortunes recently, winning away 6-1 at Cotswold Hills, while the B team came up against stiff opposition at Westonbirt, losing 7-0. The Men’s first team enjoyed a 5-1 win at Brickhampton. The B Team also took the honours in the reverse fixture, winning 5.5 - 0.5.
