BRISTOL Rovers have been drawn with Reading, Portsmouth and Yeovil in the new EFL Trophy group.

The Trophy has, though, brought criticism as some major teams have opted not to take part.

The competition, formerly known as the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, caused controversy when it was announced that 16 top-flight clubs would be invited to enter their academy teams.

Nevertheless, EFL chairman Shaun Harvey said: "This is a one-season trial and only at the end of the pilot will we take a step back and consider what lies in wait for future seasons.”
