Stroud League Division Three
Rodborough Old Boys 4 Dursley Town Res 1
DURSLEY somehow remained in contention until the final few minutes of this game as Rodborough Old Boys’ near-constant onslaught eventually paid dividends.
Forced onto the back foot, Town actually took a tenth-minute lead when veteran left-back Rich Gillingham caught out the goalkeeper with a long-range lob.
That the visitors were still ahead at the interval was almost entirely down to the performance of goalkeeper Keith Watson, who made a succession of crucial stops.
The 36-year-old started by turning a penalty kick against the post and then followed-up with at least half-a-dozen more saves as the home side dominated the match.
It took a deflection to finally beat the goalkeeper for the equaliser on the hour mark and rampant Rodborough completed the turnaround from their next attack.
Two breakaway goals eventually gave the hosts the win.
* Zoe Gabb scored the equaliser as Dursley Ladies drew 1-1 with Longlevens in the Gloucestershire Women’s League Division One.
