DURSLEY'S Mike Crompton completed Kingsway parkrun for the first time, recording a best time of 17:51mins, while a number of runners went close to a personal best.

Jude Rugman recording a PB of 30:50mins. Significant age graded results were Mike Crompton, 73.11 per cent, Richard Bromley, 72.08 per cent, at York (1st VM65), and John Hieron 65.07 per cent.

Twelve Dursley athletes, including one junior, were at the Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country League opener in Little Rissington on Saturday.

Louis Bowcock ran the 2Km U11 lap race to come 53rd overall in a time of 10:12mins and was working hard in his first race in the league.

The woman agreed it was a challenging event – hilly and hot. It was a fast start as ever and Margaret Johnson led Dursley from start to finish, with the attritional course playing to her strengths.Alice Lewis was second home.

Deb Peake ran a solid race, less than a minute behind Lewis. Shona Darley, made a stalwart debut, struggling with her breathing, she pulled it altogether for a sprint finish, with Erica Fuller working hard as the ladies’ lantern rouge.

The men’s race also started fast, but with clouds gathering and chill wind conditions which were now ideal.

David Durden finished first for Dursley in 38:55mins.

Two minutes behind were Michael Brown and Tony Wooldridge, with Brown passing Wooldridge in the last 50 metres.

Andy Truswell was only a minute behind Tony and fourth for the team.

Garry Strickland finished three minutes after Andy and Pete Dunn and was the sixth DRC man to finish.

Johnson was an impressive first FV50, with Lewis and Wooldridge both third in their categories.

Steve Watson competed his first multi-disciplinary event at the Windsor Duathlon, completing it in an impressive time of two hours 18mins, including a 10K personal best.

Richard Pitts attempted to qualify for the 2017 European Duathlon Championships at the Bedford Aerodrome Sprint Duathlon however horrendous weather conditions put paid to this attempt At the Aldi Manchester Half, Neil Hodgson was 236th (MV40 32nd), one hour 25:19mins (chip).

Anthony and Joseph Ball raced at the Grittleton 10K in Wiltshire on Sunday.

Ball Senior placed 151st and recorded a PB of 50:51mins, Joseph Ball finished in 106th in 46:59mins.

At the Mendip Outdoor Pursuits 10K, Phil Young finished in 63rd place (second MV60) in one hour 17:47mins.
