COTSWOLD Edge golfers Mel Lee and Tina Lewis were celebrating this week after winning the Gloucestershire Lady’s County Foursomes played at Bristol Golf Club on Finals Day.

They won through several rounds, home and away, throughout the year and beat their opponents Ali Vyas and Karen Smith from Bristol and Clifton 8&6 despite having to give them seven shots in the match.

Janet Duberley also took part in the Mercia Cup play off, narrowly missing out to overall winner Amanda Pritchard from Stinchcombe Hill. It was thumbs up all round for the lefties in the annual left hand vs right hand match, winning 3–1 and taking the glory for the second year running.

Keith Dancer did extremely well in the CESP Final at Minchinhampton New Course finishing second in Division Two with 31 stableford points. The October Medal saw some very good under par scores returned in all divisions earning handicap cuts for all division winners.

Results: Division 1: Steve Devaney nett 66, Dave Edwards 69 & Vern Chappell 71; Division 2: Mike Chappenden 67, Steve Blackburn 69 & Andy Marsh 70; Division 3: Tim Bartlett 69, Steve Bishop 70 & Alan Johnson 74. The Seniors October Medal was well supported and also saw the winners carding under par scores .

Results: Division 1: Chris Sheppard nett 67, Pete Teasdale 67 & Richard Rogers 68; Division 2: Steve Leach 67, Roger Johnson 70 & Brian Packer 71.

Sue Freeland and Dave Chappell took the honours in the Mixed American Greensomes competition where both players take a tee shot, then take their partners ball for the next shot before deciding which ball to hole out with. They scored an impressive forty points and won on count back from Ali and Josh Buncher followed by Sue Reid and Sid Pratt with 39 points.
