MATTHEW Gardner was the goal hero for Sharpness as they took a 3-0 Gloucestershire Northern Senior League first division victory at home to Tuffley Rovers Reserves on Saturday.

Gardner struck twice, with Martin Smith grabbing the other goal which puts Sharpness level with second-placed Brockworth Albion who are also on 22 points.

Cam Bulldogs are in fourth after they beat Bredon 2-1 on Saturday at the Everlands ground. The Bulldogs, who one point ahead of Charlton Rovers in the table, can take another step nearer the top three on Saturday when they take on Newent Town away.

Berkeley town, however, lost for the sixth time in the league this season when they went down 3-0 at Brockworth Albion and remain in 12th place.

And Berkeley will be hoping for an upset this weekend when they take on leaders Ruardean Hill Rangers at Station Road.

Meanwhile, in the second division. Dursley Town lost out to Chalford in a seven goal thriller at The Rec as Chalford won 4-3.

Bur Dursley will be hoping to bounce back quickly from the defeat when they travel to Longlevens Reserves on Saturday.

Wotton Rovers went down to a 1-0 defeat at FC Lakeside which means they continue to struggle at the wrong end of the table.

Rovers have eight points and are in 15th place.
