FORTY-nine Dursley Running Club athletes completed over the weekend, Richard Pitts ran the quickest parkrun of the weekend with DRC runners coming in first across the age categories.

Julie Fenn ran a huge best of 01:16 at Kingsway, Steve Watson and Garry Strickland both ran PB’s at Wotton. Graeme Hawkins, Nigel Burford and Pitts all ran over 70 per cent age graded runs

Sunday saw 21 DRC athletes at the Bar Chilly 10K at Castle Coombe. The weather conditions were certainly chilly but running conditions were good. Joe Browning led the team home in 38:22, with Thomas Smith unable to hold onto Browning’s coat tails despite his swift parkrun times.

Both placed second in their categories with Eileen Hieron placing first in hers. There were a plethora of PBs; Jo Fearns five and half minutes, Tom Smith, Eileen Hieron Caroline Jones and Luci Lai all around three minutes better, Annette Keevil and Joe Browning two minutes, Cara Zoglowek one minute and fourteen, Pete Dunn 50 seconds and Nicki Cowle 30 seconds. Neil Baldwin a W2R graduate completed his first 10K race in a great time of 53:18. The DRC Men’s and Women’s teams both placed second.

Caroline Whitlock was first home for DRC at the Newent Nine, an undulating 9.5K road race. Julie Fenn was pleased to go under the hour in her second race of the weekend with Emma Keating was not far behind. Annette Heylings placed 5th FV60, with Sam Stevens finishing in just under 66 minutes.
