DURSLEY Ladies were denied a cup victory following two late scores by Tewksbury Ladies on Sunday.

Having conceded an early score, Dursley Ladies (pictured left on the attack against Tewkesbury) worked hard on a cold afternoon to be behind by just two points at 12-10 at the half.-time whistle.

Further scores in the second half from the outside centre Julianne Thomson and the scrum half saw Dursley take a well-deserved 24-12 lead as they looked to be heading to the next round of the competition.

The match was one in which they maintained until 65 minutes.

The defensive effort began to take its toll on Dursley Ladies and with the powerful Tewksbury number eight becoming increasingly influential throughout this tough period of the match.

And it told when Tewksbury equalised the scores with only a few minutes remaining of the game.

With extra time looming another powerful run by the Tewksbury number eight ended Dursley’s hopes of progressing as she drove in and scored in the corner.

It was to be the last act of the game and ended in disappointment for Dursley Ladies.

Nevertheless, this was a fine performance from Dursley against league opposition characterised by a fine defence and many outstanding passages of back play.
