MIDFIELDER Charlie Colkett has been recalled from his loan spell at Rovers by his parent club Chelsea.

The young midfielder arrived at The Mem in September and made his debut in the 2-2 draw against Rochdale on 10th September.

He scored his first Rovers goal in the 1-1 draw against Bradford City just a week later and, in total, appeared in 10 league matches for Rovers.

Manager Darrell Clarke said today: “Charlie will be returning to Chelsea with our best wishes and thanks for his efforts whilst he has been with us.

“A popular member of the squad, I feel sure that he has the ability to forge a very good career in the game.”

Despite having no League experience to his name prior to arriving in BS7, Colkett had made the substitutes’ bench for a Premier League encounter with Swansea City.

In addition, he had helped Chelsea secure the FA Youth Cup in both 2014 and 2015 as well as winning two UEFA Youth League titles, serving as captain in the 2016 final against Paris St Germain.

With eight appearances and one goal in the Youth League and 11 matches under his belt in the Barclays’ U-21 Premier League, he also represented England at various age levels, winning six caps at U-16, seven caps and a goal at U-17, one match at U-18 and five games and a goal at U-19; he had represented the England U-20 side on one occasion, scoring the second goal in a 4-3 victory in France in November 2015.
