Dursley Ladies 4 Wick 0

AN improved second half performance secured Dursley a comfortable win to continue their successful run and stay joint league leaders.

The match started well for Dursley although stand in keeper Clare Rodgers was forced into a good save.

The home team began to press the visitors’ defence with Leanne Smith and Charley Strickland controlling the midfield and Ayley Booth and Pip Syvee making strong runs through on goal.

It was Smith who broke the deadlock just before half time when she cut through the defence and scored with a hard shot.

After the break, Dursley took almost complete control and most of the play was in the visitors half of the field.

Any attempted breakaway was contained by Linzi Moulder and Becky Williams aided by Karis Longdon and Captain Stacey Sealey.

Li Robinson made a strong run into the Wick D but was unable to get in her shot.

Following a short corner, Chloe McGregor hit a sweet shot from the edge of the D which beat everyone to double the lead. Near misses followed but Smith then scored her second. Ayley Booth then scored a well deserved goal to complete Dursley’s victory.

This week sees a top of the table away clash with Clifton fifths, both teams having only lost one match this season.
