NATIONAL LEAGUE
SUTTON UNITED 1
FOREST GREEN 2
CHRISTIAN DOIDGE reached his 20-goal target for the season as Forest Green sparkled on Sutton United’s plastic.
And hot-shot Doidge made it 18 goals from his last 21 games to catapult Mark Cooper’s side back up to second.
Earlier, first-half goals from Mark Ellis on 32 minutes and Doidge just three minutes later made it a comfortable night in London despite a 90th-minute red card for Ellis, Rovers' first of the season.
Rovers survived a later scare when Kieron Cadogan scored deep into stoppage time.
With 10 games to go, Rovers are three points behind Lincoln City who have two games in hand on their title rivals.
Forest Green: Russell; Bennett, Ellis, Pinnock, Kelly (Robert 85); Traore (Cooper 78), Noble, Wedgbury, Wishart; Bugiel ( Woolery, 64); Doidge.
Subs not used: Carter, Gosling.
Attendance: 1,446
