DURSLEY Bowls Club is looking forward to another season of varied activities.

When it was realised that the opening event of the new season was taking place on St. George's Day, April 23, it was decided to mark it with a special match of the English members versus the rest.

The club Publicity Officer, John Mackriell, said "I was challenged by a comment on Facebook that other Saint Days are celebrated much more than that of the English Saint."

Bunting with the flag of St. George will be flown alongside the new Club flag and the players have been asked to wear their national colours. The match will start at 2.30 pm and spectators are always very welcome at the bowls green behind "The Priory" at the bottom of Long Street.

The club always welcomes new members and there will be an Open Afternoon on Saturday May 13 from 2.30 to 5.30 pm. Enquiries may be made to John on 01453 519017 or dursleybowls@hotmail.co.uk.
