Bank House Gloucestershire County League Division 2
Gloucester City Winget v Oldlands
AFTER the disappointing performance of the previous week, Oldlands travelled to Gloucester on Saturday focused on achieving their first win of the season.
This was duly achieved in comprehensive and convincing style through an excellent all round team performance.
Losing the toss and finding themselves in the field, the visitors opening pair of the returning Dave Walton and Pete Waite bowled superbly finding bounce and movement from the pitch, beating the bat on numerous occasions and making life very difficult for the opening batsmen, but unfortunately with little good fortune.
Surviving the opening onslaught with only one wicket down, batting began to get easier a flurry of shots in the middle order progressed the home side to an all out total of 178, with Hussainkhil top scoring with 67.
A much improved bowling performance saw the wickets shared between Brad Thomas 3, Waite, Stuart Reeves and Steve Pennington taking 2 each and 1 for Walton, including 3 catches for 'keeper Bobby Woolams.
In reply, Oldlands lost Nick Grove and Doug Walton early on, but there were no further scares as Brad Thomas (59 not out) and Dave Brookes (69 not out) batted superbly to see their side comfortably home with an unbroken third wicket stand of 149.
