FOUR Dursley Running Club TRI athletes competed in three different multi-sport races over the weekend.

Tara Truman travelled to Windsor for the ITU World Sprint qualifiers at Eton Dorney Lake. After a strong 750m swim in the lake, she came out the water and into transition one in eighth place. Despite gaining one position on the 21k draft legal bike split, she finished tenth in her age group (45-49) with an overall time of one hour 19mins, after losing time on the 5k run out and back run.

She said: “I have never raced draft legal bike split before, and probably didn’t take full advantage of the energy saving benefits as well as I could of done. “My running form has not returned since being injured over the winter and I just wasn’t strong enough to hold my position in this tough field of athletes.”

Meanwhile, Phil Young and Debbie Seal made their return to multi-sport racing at the Lake 62 Cotswold Duathlon.

Despite them both also recovering from injury and taking the two 3k run legs cautiously, they took full advantage of their Dursley Road Club cycling strength on the 14k bike split, which gave Debbie the fourth fastest ladies time at the event.

She was also second in age group with an overall in a time of one hour 14 mins. Phil Young also put in a strong performance to be placed first in his age group with an overall time of one hour 05 mins.

Chris Sweet travelled to Cheltenham for the Sandford Park Lido super sprint triathlon for his start of the season warm-up event. A very strong performance saw a total time of one hour 9 mins for the swim, 14k Bike and 2.5k run.
