SLIMBIRDGE AFC have appointed Lee Driver-Dickerson as their assistant manager.

Driver-Dickerson will work alongside Freddy Ward, who took on the manager role on a permanent basis at the end of last season.

Driver-Dickerson announced in March that he was standing down at the end of last season after more than a decade at Frampton United, where he was player-manager.

Chairman Barry Gay said: ‘I am delighted that Lee has decided to join us. He has done a great job at Frampton over the past few seasons.

“He is a great motivator, and a winner, and he will be a real asset to Freddy as we approach the start of pre-season training next week.’ Ward said that one of the reasons he asked Lee was that they share the same views on how to play and approach the game.

The manager said: ‘I’m very pleased to have him aboard. Lee has similar thinking to me on how to get the best out of players,

“Lee is a great guy. I think the club needs a new face about the place, and I’m sure the players will take to him straight away. I’m looking forward to having him with us, and hopefully together we can push the club forward.”

Driver-Dickerson will be assisted by Lee Smith, who will assume a player-coach role for the forthcoming season.

The Swans start their pre-season training onTuesday.
