Gloucestershire County Cricket League Division Seven
Chalford 240 ao beat Whitminster 232-4 by eight runs
OPENER Matt Clutterbuck lead from the front but his Whitminster side could not overcome Chalford in a tight Gloucestershire County Cricket League Division Seven finish.
Chalford batted first and skipper Josh Fielding, opening, made 92 in their total. The wickets were shared around the Whitminster bowlers with Jason Owens and Robbie Helliwell both getting two as Chalford reached 240 all out.
In reply, Clutterbuck and fellow opener Lewis Cook took on the attack. Wicketkeeper Cook fell for 38 but after 14 from number three Ross Wakely, Clutterbuck joined with number four Joe McGoldrick as they headed towards their target.
Clutterbuck suffered the agony of being caught just four runs short of his century as he went for 96, and the run chase fell short with McGoldrick ending the game on 43 not out.
