Stonehouse Town 2 Slimbridge 4
SLIMBRIDGE have begun their pre-season campaign with a victory over Stonehouse Town on Tuesday night, but were made to battle hard by their hosts.
Slimbridge made a positive start, and Marley Thomas’ early effort which was just too high would not have counted because of an offside flag, but it only took seven minutes for the visitors to take the lead - Marley Thomas playing in Joe Stokes, whose peach of a strike gave the Stonehouse keeper no chance.
The hosts struck back almost immediately, and equalised straight from the restart before taking the lead on 25 minutes, a scoreline they took into the break.
It was not until the last 15 minutes that Slimbridge regained some momentum, with trialist Joe Wilton, watched by his father Russ and brother Lewis, both of whom have memorably represented the Swans, turning the game on its head in a five minute spell.
Two goals in two minutes from Wilton saw the visitors retake the lead, and three minutes later, he set up Marley Thomas for the Swans' fourth.
After the game. Wilton signed forms to joins the Swans for the forthcoming season.
Slimbridge now travel to Hereford based Pegasus Juniors on Saturday (3pm)
