ROCKHAMPTON seconds went down to a 29-run defeat at Slaughters United in the Gloucestershire County League third division.

Rockhampton seconds won the toss and put the home side into bat.

And the Rams had their opponents in a bad position when Slaughters were 44-3.

However, they managed to recover lower down the order and, with the addition of 41 in extras, they made 183-8 in their innings. Mark Beale took three wickets.

Rockhampton’s reply started excellently with openers Jeremy White and Nigel Hopkins putting on an impressive 91 before White went for 44.

However, three more wickets fell for the addition of just ten runs and soon Rockhampton had slumped to 116-6 which included Hopkins returning to the pavilion for forty.

The writing was on the wall and, despite 13 from Will Brisco, Rockhampton struggled and were all out for 154.
