SKY BET LEAGUE TWO

FOREST GREEN 4

YEOVIL TOWN 3

THE late Sir Bruce Forsyth would have waxed lyrical after this football crackerjack.

TV legend Brucie liked a one-liner and his "Good game, good game" catchphrase would have aptly summed up this smasher as Forest Green clinched their first-ever EFL League Two win.

Earlier, Yeovil Town had the cigars out as they stung Rovers with a brace inside 15 minutes.

Rovers’ Christian Doidge pulled one back with his third goal in as many games, but Yeovil restored their two-goal buffer to go 3-1 up. However, Mark Cooper’s side cranked it up in first-half stoppage-time thanks to Reece Brown’s spanking free-kick, his first goal for Rovers.

And Cooper must have ripped the paint off the walls at the break after a bonkers first period.

Charlie Cooper’s skidder levelled things up soon after the resumption, with his first in a Forest Green shirt, and sub Omar Bugiel nodded a brave header with 11 minutes to go, capping a remarkable turnaround.

Earlier, Forest Green and Yeovil held a minute's silence to pay tribute to those affected af-ter a suspected terror attack killed at least 13 people and injured dozens more on Las Ram-blas in Barcelona city centre.

Rovers made one change to the side that lost 2-0 at Mansfield – Luke James coming in for Drissa Traore.

A barnstorming first 24 minutes set pulses racing with Rovers caught cold. Olufela Olo-mola gobbled up a ninth-minute chance after Brad Collins parried. Rovers were the prover-bial rabbit in the headlights as they found themselves 2-0 down just five minutes later. Cooper’s rash trip on Otis Khan saw the referee point to the spot - Khan fizzing in a com-posed finish beyond Collins.

It was raining goals. Rover’s Doidge nodded home on 24 minutes from a Dale Bennett cross, following a driving run from Lee Collins and a James pass.

Confidence restored, Rovers hunted parity. Liam Noble arrowing over and James nodding wide from a Bennett cut back.

This high-octane first-half wasn’t over. Khan, who had been a thorn in Rovers’ side throughout – arrowed over a 35th-minutes cross, which the unfortunate Manny Monthe headed on for Francois Yoko to thump in.

On the cusp of the break Brown smacked the Yeovil bar from the edge of the box.

Rovers needed a way back in and Brown found one in stoppage time. Cooper’s shot was handled on the edge of the box and Brown stepped up to bend a sizzling free-kick past Arthur Krysiak.

Boss Cooper was forced to replace the injured Jack Fitzwater at the break for Nottingham Forest defender Alex lacovitti, who caught the eye with a commanding display.

In a match more akin to basketball, Rovers netted parity just four minutes after the resumption. Cooper picked the ball up in midfield and his 25- yard skimmer went through the gloves of Krysiak.

Cooper’s goal had Rovers’ tails up. Krysiak atoned for his earlier gaff with a crucial punch off the head of Doidge from a driven Cooper cross.

This topsy-turvy clash saw Forest Green take the lead for the first time in the match with 11 minutes to go. Sub Bugiel took a mighty crunch from keeper Krysiak, but managed to direct his header into the net after sub Dan Wishart had tossed the ball into the box.

Despite six minutes of added time, Rovers stood firm to register an historic victory.
