COTSWOLD Edge Golf Club welcomed lots of visitors this week for the Men’s and Ladies respective annual Invitation Days.

The ladies got the better of the weather with a mainly sunny day whilst the men had to contend with the rain.

Shaun Chappell and guest Joe Foote from the Kendleshire won the Invitation Cup stableford competition with 42 points on count back from Captain Gary Swift & Wayne Hawley (Enmore Park) and Mark Harris & Lindon Hore (Long Ashton).

Mark Harris also won the Stokes Salver for the best gross of 77. Ilse Russell & guest Margaret Murray from Gloucester Golf Club won the Ladies Invitation Day stableford pairs competition with 38 points ahead of Mary Brealey and Karen Reeves (Thornbury) 36 and Lita Hayward and Caroline Williams (Thornbury) 35.

The ladies also enjoyed a lovely meal in the clubhouse before presentation of prizes.

Bank Holiday Monday saw both Men and Ladies compete in the warm sunshine for the Beverley Plate, an individual stableford competition. Andy Cocking took the honours on count back from Catherine Beale and Andy Marsh, all with 37 points.

The Ellerncroft Trophy was well supported with winners in all Divisions returning under par scores, overall trophy winner Chris Ford also earned himself a one shot handicap cut.

Division 1: Chris Ford nett 66, Richard Rogers 70 and Steve Hacker 71; Division 2: Carl Hendry 67, Vince Taylor 68 and Wayne Parsons 71; Division 3: John Davis 69, Mike Simons 72 and David Millward 72.

Midweek Medal winner Kenny Hibbitt also carded an under par nett 68 score ahead of Graham Shute 73 and Vince Taylor 73.
