IT has been another very positive week for City after two cracking results at Ashton Gate.

Perhaps more than just the results, it was the performances against Derby County and Stoke City that will be most pleasing for City fans.

There was an element of fortune in respect of our results last week at Reading and Wolves but there was nothing fortuitous about the 4-1 demolition of Derby, followed by a dominant display against Premier League Stoke City in Tuesday’s EFL Cup tie.

City could count themselves unlucky to be 1-0 down at half-time to the Rams on Saturday after having the better of a tense encounter. But the second half saw an absolutely superb performance by the home side in which we could have scored five or six.

As it was, goals from Woodrow, Paterson, Diedhiou and the division’s top scorer Reid, were more than enough. The result lifts City to eighth place in the Championship table.

On Tuesday evening, Mark Hughes’ Stoke City visited Ashton Gate with aspirations of going far in a cup they felt they could win.

The Potters only made six changes to their starting line-up whilst City made nine.

However, this squad that has been assembled by Lee Johnson does have great strength in depth and it told once again as City’s youth, pace and movement proved too much for the visitors.

We were the better side in the first half and really should’ve been 2-0 up after ten minutes.

Stoke hit the bar just before the break but, after half-time, that man Diedhiou again and Taylor put City into a two-goal lead and we saw the game out comfortably.

I feel that after beating two Premier League sides already that we really deserve one of the big boys in the next round.

City travel to Norwich City this Saturday (3pm) before hosting Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday (7.45pm).
