Gloucestershire County Women’s League Division One

Longlevens Ladies 5 Dursley Town Ladies 2

LONGLEVENS were more clinical in front of goal as Dursley Town Ladies came off second best in a game where they had enough chances to earn a share of the spoils and possibly even take victory.

The Gloucester side took the lead early on, but Town were level midway through the first half when Michelle Watson played in Zoe Gabb and she rounded the goalkeeper to score.

However, the hosts then built up a two-goal cushion following some sloppy defending before Jess Brown’s cross was miscued in for an own goal by a defender under pressure from Watson.

Dursley ought to have drawn level in the second half, but Gabb and Brown fired straight at the goalkeeper when through, and then Emma Allen’s own goal put the home side clear again.

Sophie Lawrence was unfortunate to see a long-range up-and-under come back off the crossbar before Longlevens clinched their victory with a spectacular 25-yard shot.
