Wotton-under-Edge 2 Team Bath Buccs 3

UNDER bright lights of Friday night, the stage was set at Wotton Community PARC to host a lively affair between a young, well-drilled Bath side and a passionate Wotton side with flare.

Despite the large, vociferous home crowd, Wotton started slowly and before long Bath overloaded the right wing creating two on ones, leading to a simple tap in.

Bath's high press continued to work culminating in another goal.

Wotton quickly fought back with a sense of urgency. Matthew Fairburn found himself in front of the keeper and coolly dragged the ball past the keeper's left foot, scoring from a tight angle. Just before the break, a well-drilled short corner from Bath made it 3-1 at half time.

Into the second half, Wotton were rejuvenated with energy from the team talk and the supportive crowd.

Wotton were sporadic in attack and were perhaps lucky to end up with a short corner. Ryan Howarth stepped up and flicked from the top of the D to make it 3-2.

Momentum was turning. Bath were looking shaky and lost their confidence, forcing the ball through the middle.

Wotton took control and looked dangerous in attack with two goal line scrambles. Cards, green and yellow, held back Wotton from getting across the line and the final score was 3-2.
