FOREST GREEN boss Mark Cooper insisted Crawley Town keeper Glenn Morris should have been handed a straight red card as his in-form side were forced to settle for a point.

Cooper was baying for a red card when Morris handled a Christian Doidge strike outside his box on 37 minutes, but match referee Tom Nield handed out a yellow, leaving Cooper spitting feathers.

Doidge’s sixth goal of the season handed Rovers the lead on 66 minutes, but Thomas Verheydt levelled things up with 10 minutes to go in a game which saw Cooper's side hit the goal frame three times.

“I have got to be careful, but unless the rules have changed overnight, then the decision is clear,” said an unhappy Cooper after Rovers stretched their unbeaten League Two record to four games in Sussex.

“We don’t want to see people get sent off, but Crawley boss Harry Kewell and myself both got a stage one warning during the game, but that’s why we get frustrated because it’s such a simple decision. Doidge is clean through on goal and has poked the ball past the keeper and it’s going in and the keeper hand balls it five yards outside his box and there is no recovering defender, so there can’t be any other alternative."
