SO the international break is over and we are back into full flow this weekend to continue the remarkable push towards the top end of the Championship.

We travel to Sheffield Wednesday this Saturday and will be looking to add three points that could put us level on points with Wednesday’s bitter rivals in Yorkshire, Sheffield United, who are currently in second spot behind leaders Woverhampton Wanderers.

But while there has been no action over the weekend, that is not to say Ashton Gate has been a quiet place. Far from it.

There is plenty happening, with speculation about the possible signing of Panathinaikos’ Robin Lod when the transfer window re-opens in January.

There is always speculation as the window approaches, so it is arguable what sort of signing Lod would be if manager Lee Johnson decided to bring out his credit card and spend some cash.

The word is that the 24-year-old has rejected a new deal at Panathinaikos, meaning that the Greek outfit could be forced to sell him for a cut-price fee this January.

He is a Finnish international and has twenty caps to his name. He has also played 55 times for Panathinaikos and scored seven goals from his position of midfielder or winger.

The other news from this week is the publication of a book about a City great. Harry Dolman OBE dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to the football club he loved, as director, chairman and president.

His many contributions to the club included designing the stand named after him at his beloved Ashton Gate stadium, as well as introducing the ground’s first floodlights and entry turnstiles.

A special launch event to mark the publication of Harry Dolman: The Millionaire Inventor Who Became “Mr Bristol City”, by Martin Powell and Clive Burlton, was held on Wednesday night with Harry’s widow, Marina Dolman MBE, president of Bristol City FC, present at the launch. I am sure it will be a great read.
