THE cold conditions did not stop fifty-four DRC runners making it to the Riverbank Rollick.

Once the runners were off they found the course conditions were “good to firm” Dave Durden led the DRC team for the first three miles and then Simon Jones eased himself past.

Jones held on to his lead finishing 24th overall in 01:06:13 despite Durden’s best efforts to close the gap it was 50 seconds at the end.

Darren Kitchen a further two minutes back, a good run as it was his first attempt over the course. DRCs first woman home was Jadie Cotterell, finishing in 01:18:22, 29 seconds in front of Alice Lewis, with Caroline Jones and Fran Amigoni coming in 3rd and 4th women for the club in quick succession.

Seventeen DRC athletes made it into the top 10 of their age categories with eight in the top five.

Alice Lewis and Dave Durden won their categories, with Darren Kitchen, Garry Strickland and Jackie Creed all placing third in theirs.

The Gloucester Half Marathon and Marathon saw some excellent performances.

 Team Sunday’s Kevin Jackson and Margaret produced runs just of 90 and 97 minutes, placing 3rd and 2nd in their categories.

Graham Tudor another vastly improved runner was 3rd M60 with Dave Saunders 4th M65. Rach Goatman ran with Becky Whatling to complete the course in 02:37, just ahead of Tel Cother who completed his furthest ever race distance, great efforts by all three.

The DRC team was also second team on points Emma Denton reported on the three DRC Marathoners “There seemed to be three of us doing the Gloucester Marathon. I came in at 03.40.08, 84th, Thomas Farley 03:59:24, 139th and Ian Cole 04:22:5 174th”. Denton was 3rd F40.

Paul Gebbett was first back in 43:16 to place 37th (5th V45+), Rachel Brown was 167th (7th FV45+) in 63:46 and Kevin Brockway was 168th (8th V50+) in 63:50.

DRC Tri-team’s Tony Ball was over in Lanzarote for the International Duathlon which took place on the 13th.

The event includes a 5k run, 20k bike and a 2.5k run, which he completed in 01:22:00 minutes.

Chris Young completed the Tewkesbury Aquathlon, he declared hime self “Really pleased with PB in swim (7:19) and by 1:30 mins overall.” It was a great swim by Young, the work he is putting in paying off.

Paul Lewington ran his 50th parkrun at Stonehouse on Saturday, running 29:17 and placing 3rd VM60.

At Wotton Matt Rogers was in first for DRC and 3rd overall, with Shona 1st woman overall.

At Kingsway Mark Western led the DRC in with Jackie Pennington 1st DRC woman to finish.

The fastest parkrun went to Neil Hodgson who placed 2nd overall at Andover with a new PB of 18:25 taking the highest age grading at 77.01 from Pete Chaffer who ran at Markeaton, near Derby, running 20:25 for a 75.92% AG.
