FOREST GREEN defender Manny Monthe is closing in on a loan move to Tranmere Rovers, the SNJ understands.

Monthe,23, has dropped down the pecking order folllowing the January arrivals of Gavin Gunning, Haydn Hollis and Farrend Rawson, last appearing for Mark Cooper's side in the 1-0 defeat at Swindon in January.

Tranmere, who lost 4-1 at home to  Nation League leaders Macclesfield last night, are believed to be eager to bring Monthe to Prenton Park

Monthe joined Forest Green from National League South outfit Bath City in Novemeber 2016. He was part of the Rovers’  side that won the National League Promotion Final 3-1 at Wembley over Tranmere.

The Cameroonian has featured 20 times for Rovers this season, picking up two red cards.

Forest Green declined to comment on the conjecture, saying: “We don’t comment on rumour or speculation.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Drissa Traore is eyeing a move back to France.
