THE BAD weather wiped out all of Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire's grassroots sport on Saturday.

And Forest Green Rovers were also affected with their SkyBet League Two clash against at Crewe Alexandra being called off during the week.

The entire Evo-Stik Southern, West, Gloucestershire County League and Gloucestershire Northern Senior football leagues had their matches postponed, as did the entire rugby union programme that included the Thornbury, Dursley, Chipping Sodbury and Frampton Cotterell clubs.

Yate Town were due to visit Barnstaple Town and Slimbridge were on their travels to runaway Evo-Stik Southern, West leaders Taunton Town on Saturday but both will now have to be re-scheduled.

And while, on Tuesday, Slimbridge are due to finally play a match at Swindon Supermarine which seems jinxed, after it was abandoned in November due to a serious injury and then twice postponed due to bad weather, the chances of it taking place at last are not good.

It is still on, according to the league, but, barring a big thaw, it is likely to be postponed for a third time.

Thornbury RFC were supposed to be home to Tribute South West One West high-flyers Drybrook at Rockhampton Road, and Dursley were looking to add to their victory over Bredon Star last weekend when paying a visit to Brockworth in the Gloucester One division.

And both Chipping Sodbury and Frampton Cotterell will have to decide when they will play each other again as their derby clash in the Gloucester Premier League which was due to happen on Saturday.

An additional postponement is on Wednesday in the Gloucestershire County League football where the visit of Gala Wilton to Almondsbury-based Lebeq United has already been called off.

Even Wotton-under-Edge Hockey Club, who play on an artifical surface at Wotton Community Parc, had their senior games called off, with access problems probably the main cause.

The next scheduled matches for Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire football sides next Saturday will see Yate taking on Cirencester Town at Lodge Road, while Slimbridge are due to be hosting Barnstaple Town at Thornhill Park.

Thornbury rugby are due to visit Oakhampton, while Gloucester Premier leaders Chipping Sodbury will be looking to re-start their promotion campaign when they travel to Gloucester Old Boys.

Frampton Cotterell will be home to Cirencester, and Dursley face a difficult clash at Stichcombe where they play second-placed Cheltenham North.

Gloucestershire County League leaders Thornbury Town are due to play Gala Wilton at home in the Les James Cup semi-finals, while the other semi sees Frampton United travel to Stonehouse Town.

Kingswood are in league action next Saturday when they play Hardwicke at home.
