CHELTENHAM TOWN boss Gary Johnson has dubbed tomorrow's match against Forest Green a ‘Gloucestershire Cup Final’.

Matches against the two local rivals have ended in stalemates – with the game at The New Lawn ended 1-1 after Mo Eisa’s strike.

“The derby is perfect for us and we are looking forward to it,” he told the Cheltenham Town websire.

“I never like to just see a season out, with nothing to play for and we have a couple of really good home games to come, with Forest Green being a local 'cup final' and Coventry will bring a big crowd down as they will need to win that to stay in the play-off chase and it's a case of will they, won't they?

“I am always pleased there are things to play for come the end of the season and none are more important than your local cup final.

“Bragging rights don't bother me that much, but it's a supporters' game isn't it,” he added. “They want the bragging rights, living locally in the area.

“It's a game which is always healthy rivalry and it's kept us focused, definitely. I want to try and win the game.

“From our point of view, it's three points, but from their point of view it's a massive game as well because they are pretty close to the relegation teams, certainly in that little bunch and they will want to get out of it.

“I am sure it'll be a keenly contested game and we want to win it, there is no doubt about that. You can say it's not a cup final, but it is for the area.

“It would mean a lot to everybody. Certainly it'd be nice to get our noses in front as far as that is concerned after all the draws. I suppose it's a banker draw, but that might not be good enough for Forest Green with the position they are in.

“A lot of teams come to Whaddon Road and they defend because they know that if we get some momentum up we can be a decent team.

“I think they'll come here to win, which is important for them and that'll make it a very interesting game.”
