CITY'S league campaign ended in disappointment on Sunday with a 3-2 capitulation at home to Sheffield United.

City were never really in the game as The Blades went 2-0 up on the half hour mark before Freeman added a third four minutes later.

City were playing as badly as I’ve seen them all season which was a tremendous disappointment given this was the last chance supporters get to see the team in action before the summer break.

In the second half, City did rally. On 60 minutes Flint got one back, his ninth goal of the season, headed in from a Brownhill corner.

Then, with 15 minutes left, Joe Bryan scored a stunning free kick to set up a grandstand finish.

But United held firm in the closing minutes to ensure they leapfrogged City in the Championship table.

The result means City finished in 11th position, seven points ahead of Ipswich Town who finished a place below in 12th.

There’s no doubt I’d have been delighted with this at the start of the season, however, after being second at the end of December, one can’t help but think what might have been if we’d recruited better in January.

None of the three signings we made – Walsh, Kent or Diony – have made a positive impact. The latter simply looked a very poor loan signing.

This summer is likely to be an interesting one at Ashton Gate with rumours already circulating that the club will struggle to keep hold of prized assets such as Bobby Reid, Joe Bryan, Marlon Pack and Aden Flint.

It is likely there will be a number of outgoings and so Lee Johnson will have to recruit very well in the transfer market.

There are certainly question marks over his abilities in the transfer market after what happened in January and indeed the large number of players he has signed who haven’t made it anywhere near the starting eleven.

It’s a big summer for all involved at the football club. Hoping all City fans have a great summer!
