AT LAST City have scored more than one goal.
The derision that greeted their 1-1 draw with struggling Peterborough on Saturday which prompted fullback Bradley Orr to call the local radio station with his take on it, was replaced with delight after a 3-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle.
Plenty of what if’s could have made City a top two team this season, but they are about where they deserve to be.
An away trip to Barnsley on Saturday, who are hardly setting this league on fire, will be a good test of their credentials.
Cole Skuse, who outshone Evander Sno in midfield on Saturday and followed this with a good display against Plymouth, has enhanced his reputation.
He came through City’s youth ranks which is more than you can say for the rest of the team, and reflects badly on an expensive academy set up.
City continue to play football which is pleasing on the eye but too often they fail to convert it to a win.
This is the strongest squad City have had for many years but it is so fragile in the last few minutes when defending a lead, most supporters are hiding under their seats and waiting for the inevitable. At last against Argyle they drove their supremacy home.
Will Tesco get the planning permission to build on Ashton Gate? The decision will be made in the new few weeks.
That is a matter for the planners but let’s be under no illusion that a supermarket chain paying allegedly well over the top for a site in Bedminster, will want the naming rights to a new stadium half a mile up the road.
Welcome to The Tesco Stadium, home of Bristol City. Who cares what we call it if we are in The Premiership?
