The only match that Hawkesbury managed to complete in the glorious month of August gave them the victory that secured promotion to Division Four.
Asked to bat, Ashton Ingham struggled from the start with spin twins Gavin Huxford and Sam Beeley restricting the scoring to 95 off 30 overs, dismissing the first four batsmen and finishing with two wickets apiece.
The home side were eventually bowled out for 148 with Joe Salt cleaning up the tail to finish with 5-45.
For Ashton Ingham only Alan Hamilton and Alex Leighton made any impression with 33 and 29 respectively.
Hawkesbury needed only 25 overs to wrap up the victory and take the points.
Chris Gardener was 42 not out at the close and Salt was with him undefeated on 71, surely ensuring his player of the year award at the end of season presentations.
For Hawkesbury the runners-up spot achieved their pre-season goal of promotion in their first year in the County League but they must rue the dropped points in April which denied them the winner’s pennant.
