DURSLEY'S promotion hopes were dealt a blow as they were beaten by in-form Hucclecote.

They have dropped out of a promotion spot with just one game left to play against Kingswood on Saturday, April 14.

Dursley played on their obvious advantage in the pack and Darren Noble was unlucky to be stopped just short after a crushing drive, which all came from a booming Matt Billett kick into the corner.

A flowing backs move almost put Ed Sheldon in the corner, but he was thwarted by a good cover tackle.

Finally, Dursley opened the scoring with a penalty from Billett.

From the kick off Dursley were right back on the front foot and finally scored several phases later through Jake Martin to lead 8-0. Dursley rallied again and were unlucky to not increase their half-time when Darren Sampson was called back when clean through due to an earlier infringement.

Dursley started the second half strongly but Hucclecote scored their first try of the afternoon against the run of play, and it was converted, reducing the lead to 8-7.

Ryan Malpass was unlucky to be stopped just short after taking an interception pass.

Dursley picked up another penalty to increase their lead to 11-7, which tightened their grip on the game.

However, once again Hucclecote clicked into gear and a smart blindside move saw them score another converted try.

Hucclecote managed to score another try with just ten minutes remaining to increase their lead to 19-11 and Dursley were unable to make any inroads into the deficit.
