If you have not already bought a table at the Croydon Charity Ball on May 20, then you might just be tempted by a weekend break in New York.

The trip across the Atlantic is first prize in the raffle at the fundraising event at Crystal Palace Football Club, which is supported by the Croydon Guardian, and with only a couple of tables left, time is running out if you want to be in with a chance of winning.

The flights to New York have been donated by Virgin Atlantic Airways and the accommodation provided by Marriott Hotels. Other auction and raffle prizes include an opportunity for one lucky youngster to appear in the official Crystal Palace Football Club team photograph for the season 2003/4, a signed and framed Manchester United shirt, donated by Vodaphone, tickets for Ladies Day at Ascot, tickets for a national cricket league match at Edgebaston, a day for eight people at Lingfield Park Racecourse (including a limousine for the day) and a signed Welsh Rugby Union ball.

Also up for grabs is a signed Status Quo CD (Famous in the Last Century) with photograph, a camera, House of Commons eight-year-old whiskey, a Pay as you Talk mobile phone (plus £15 air time voucher, donated by Vodaphone) and signed photographs of the cast from TV police soap The Bill with an inside story book. Phil Alexander, chairman of the charity ball committee and chief executive of Crystal Palace Football Club, said: "I am really pleased the way it has all come together and I am looking forward to a really great night. There are still a couple of tables left so there is still time to get involved."
