HARROW police are warning residents not to leave their car keys on display in their homes following two burglaries in which cars were stolen with the owners' keys early on Monday.

A Mercedes sports car worth £25,000 was taken from outside a house in in Shaftesbury Avenue, South Harrow, and a Mercedes saloon, worth £11,000 and a Peugeot 206, worth £15,000, were both taken from one house in Ennerdale Avenue, Stanmore.

Inspector Aidan Gibson said: "We don't know whether the thieves broke in with the intention of stealing their cars, but in both cases the keys were clearly visible by the front door. I would urge residents to ensure that they keep their car keys and other easy to grab valuables out of sight."
