ZOE BARNETT hit four goals as Thornbury crushed Avonmouth.

The hosts opened the scoring in the first minute when Zoe Barnett scored from a narrow angle.

The visitors were under constant pressure from the home side but on a couple of occasions stretched the home defence and might have scored but for some fine goalkeeping from Sophie Wilkins.

The home keeper made one superb save on the stroke of half time when she dived and guided a goal bound shot over the bar.

Barnett and Vicky Ball increased the lead to 3-0 before half time.

The second half was virtually all Thornbury with Barnett grabbing a further two to end with four and others coming from Shelley Beurschgens, who deftly guided home an Amanda Ponting cross, Sian Fuller and Charlotte Fox.

Elaine Dreyton, Becky Jones and Elaine Arnold, apart from a couple of moments in the first half, were able to concentrate on moving forward in support of the forwards whilst Rachael Gardener and Lizzie McManaman roamed effectively in midfield.

Thornbury visit Stroud on Saturday hoping to continue their current goalscoring form.
