BRISTOL PHOENIX clinched the South West Women’s Premier League T20 title with an emphatic win at Taunton.
Taunton’s innings started brightly and their openers made full use of a hard ball and a fast outfield to post 40 after five overs, but a flurry of wickets, including Georgina Adcock for 32, stemmed the run rate, such that at half way Taunton’s total stood at 64- 4.
Excellent slow bowling from Abby Evans and Vicky Ball further strangled the Taunton batters and a late burst from Charlie Walker (4-25), left Taunton on 113-9 at the close of innings.
Alex Macdonald and Emily Waldron looked fully at ease and posted 46 runs inside five overs together before a mis-communication saw Waldron run out for 15.
Macdonald, now joined by Abby Evans, continued to strike the ball well and together they added an unbroken 68 in eight overs, to cruise to victory with Macdonald finishing on 64 and Abby Evans on 20.
