Bristol & District League Division Two

Real Thornbury 8 Fry Club A 1

IN THEIR first home game since before Christmas, Real Thornbury ran riot against Fry Club A.

The visitors came to try and stop Thornbury from playing flowing football.

This tactic lasted all of 13 minutes when Real took the lead with a goal from Mike Barton converting a lob into the area from Joe Hulbert.

Ten minutes later Hulbert doubled Real’s lead.

Playing into the low sun second half did not deter Real.

A long cross into the area from Dan Lever on the left wing saw Dave Thomas convert on the volley for number three.

Again beating the offside trap, Hulbert found himself one on one with the keeper and slotted past him for number four.

With Mark Willis standing in as Real goalkeeper, the usual communication at the back was lost for a while and a comedy of errors saw Tom Perry try a diving header to clear the ball off the Real line only to end up scoring for Fry.

Number five for Thornbury came from a rebound off the post hit by Barton to the boot of Lever to fire home.

Real substitutes Adam Hooper and Sam Taylor came on to score number seven and eight.
