Bristol & District League Division Two

DRG Frenchay Reserves 0 Real Thornbury 5

THE last time these two sides competed Real Thornbury only just scraped a 2-1 win, scoring the decider in injury time.

Frenchay looked good and up for the challenge on their ground.

It took Real 20 minutes to score the first – a cross into the area from Dan Lever for Mike Barton to hit home off the half volley.

Ten minutes before half-time Mourad Senouci headed the ball across the Frenchay goal to Tom Miller, who caught the ball on the volley for number two.

Frenchay came out strong in the second half with the wind in their favour but the Real defence stood firm.

A pass through to Joe Hulbert saw him cut in from the right, and slot home number three.

Real were now dominating the game and goal number four came when Lever crossed from out wide on the left to Barton, who then headed the ball back over the keeper and into the net.

After his many attempts to score skipper Frank Hook eventually converted when Barton laid the ball on for him.

This was the 100th goal in the league this season for Real Thornbury.

Star man: Mike Barton.

Real Thornbury are now five points clear at the top of the table with three games in hand and a mighty goal difference of plus 91.
