Frys Club A 0 Real Thornbury 2

REAL Thornbury are within touching distance of winning the title after beating Frys Club.

They could be crowned champions on Thursday night if they win at Frampton Athletic Reserves.

Real kicked off playing up the slope and into the wind.

It took until the eight minute for the visitors to score when a cross from out wide on the right found an unmarked Joe Hulbert to glide in past the keeper.

Frys then set up their defence to play the offside trap.

This worked to great effect with Thornbury being too eager to rush forward.

Thornbury may have thought that more chances would open up playing down the slope with the wind at their backs in the second half.

However, Frys tactics held until the 89th minute. A loose ball towards the Fry’s corner flag started a race between a defender and Thornbury’s Mourad Senouci, who just beat his man and produced a perfect low cross right into the path of attacking substitute Mike Barton to side-foot home.

Star man: Mark Willis.

On Saturday Thornbury are away to Greyfriars Athletic Reserves and on Monday they play in the GFA Junior Cup final against Ashley at Oaklands, Almondsbury (7.30pm).
