Bristol Premier Combination Division One

Olveston United 2 Bristol Manor Farm Reserves 1

THIS was a massive win for Olveston against top of the table Manor Farm Reserves and it put them right back in the promotion race as they moved back up to second place in the league.

The home side applied all the early pressure with George Williams unlucky not to score on two occasions.

Olveston were then awarded a penalty but the normally reliable Williams saw his spot kick hit the crossbar.

This let-off spurred Manor Farm on and they took the lead with powerful drive direct from a free kick which gave Olveston keeper Ashley Newman no chance.

The home side soon got back on top and Williams made amends for his earlier miss when he scored from close range to make the scores level at half-time.

The second half saw Olveston continue to press for the all important winner and they were rewarded with a goal ten minutes from normal time when Matt Knight headed in from a cross by Simon Pearce.

This was a fantastic team effort from Olveston with Greg Welsher outstanding in the heart of the home defence.
