Pratt Cup
Kingswood (120-5) beat Oldbury-on-Severn (119-9) by five wickets
THE closing round of the Pratt Cup saw a tight finish between hosts Kingswood and Oldbury-on-Severn.
Batting first, the visitors were soon 23-4 to Rory Thomas (2-3), Ben Foxwell (1-10) and Angus McCubbin (1-11).
A determined Chris Perry (43*) nursed his partners and the side to 119-9 off the 20 overs as Vince Taylor (2-14), 12-year-old Robbie Foxwell (1-20) and Rich Wilding (2-24) whittled away the lower order.
Kingswood's second wicket partnership of 59 between Foxwell (27) and Wilding (34) rode the early loss of skipper Kevin Morgan (10), peppering the Crest Nicholson boundary with big sixes into future back gardens.
Their loss, followed by Thomas and McCubbin on a lively pitch in the fading light, brought nervous moments as Oldbury bowlers shared the wickets.
It was left to Ollie Madge and Iain Green to win the game for Kingswood.
