A BAT used by former England cricketer Ian Ward and signed by some of the biggest hitters in the history of the game is available in a silent auction to raise money for charity.

The willow was used by Ward when he played for England against Australia in 2001 and on Sky TV in their demonstration area as part of their coverage of the 2013 Ashes series.

Commentators Sir Ian Botham, Shane Warne, Michael Atherton, David Gower, David Lloyd, Nasser Hussain, England Strauss and Michael Holding have all added their autographs to the bat.

People can bid at Thornbury Cricket Club or by phoning Patricia Donelan on 01454 626212 and 07776 027643 or Yvonne Burdge MBE on 01892 723610.

The winner will be revealed at a coffee morning at the club from 10am to 1pm on Friday, September 19, with the money raised going to Trust for Chernobyl Children.
