THORNBURY seconds secured the 2nd XI Premier Two title with a great win at Gloucester City Winget.

The side went on an incredible run of ten games unbeaten in the second half of the season.

Thornbury's pace bowlers demolished Gloucester, who were 106 all out with Josh Morris and Luke Franklin both picking up three, youngster Marcus Wormwell taking two and one for James Tunnicliffe.

Thornbury achieved the win with the loss of Danny Slade, who was caught after scoring 40.

It was left to Kyp Bridgen (44*) and Tunnicliffe (14*) to bring victory and promotion.

Thornbury firsts could not stop Ilminster from being crowned Premier Two champions as they ended their season with a ten-run home defeat.

Skipper Richard Trotman decided to put Ilminster in to bat.

Gloucestershire bowler Graeme McCarter took the first wicket of the day and Ilminster were soon reduced to 35-2.

However, a good third wicket partnership kept the visitors' promotion hopes on track before Tom Shrewsbury finally got the breakthrough when he took an unbelievable caught and bowled, diving low to his left.

This triggered lots more wickets for Thornbury, Trotman picking up four himself as Ilminster finished on 201-9 after their 50 overs.

Thornbury took the game to the wire but were eventually all out for 191.

Having already gained promotion from the Bristol and District League Seventh Division, Thornbury thirds finished the season with an eight wicket win at home to Hampset seconds.

An early wicket went to Stu MacWhinnie with Kapil Agarwal also taking a wicket.

Jon Oakes then took 5-36, while Alex Allen picked up three wickets to clean up the tail as Hampset ended on 131 all out.

Simon Weeks did not trouble the scorers as he was out very early in Thornbury's innings, playing over a straight one.

Richard Hughes hit a few lusty blows before being caught.

Matt Scarborough rolled back the years as he scored an unbeaten half-century, and Mark Stutter was unbeaten on 40 with the target reached in the 26th over.

Thornbury were unbeaten throughout the season with a points total score in excess of 400.
